Reels Are Reel Good

Why does everyone always hate on Instagram Reels? I consume most of my TikTok content when they are reposted as Reels… 2 weeks later. I think part of my problem with TikTok is I don’t even view it as a social media like it's just a place to watch videos but on Instagram, I can multitask between watching videos, judging peoples’ stories, and looking at posts of people I went to high school with and have not seen since.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoy being 2 weeks late to trends that started on TikTok, I get to annoy people by not understanding TikTok trends they bring up and then 2 weeks later I get to annoy them again by bringing up a trend that has already died out.

Something else about Reels is that the algorithm is completely fucked and I love it! On Reels I get to watch crazy videos of stay-at-home moms with 8 kids who believe using condoms is a form of murder and girls who wear a size XS saying all clothes are made for plus size people now and she’s being punished for “taking care of herself”. Even though I am rarely on it, TikTok knows exactly what kind of videos I want to watch… well lately it’s been confused because I’m currently on sorority girl tok. But usually, I see videos that make sense for me. I like to expose myself to different content! I enjoy seeing videos of people with opposite morals and realities from me, I like to laugh at them! I just enjoy laughing at delusional people and Reels is the place for that!

I understand one downside of reels is how rude the comments are (though they are also usually funny). Yes, I have seen the comments on TikTok saying to post this on reels which is a hate comment in itself but guys, I am fucking lazy! Opening TikTok is somehow more work for me than opening Instagram. Also I don't want to see ads and Reels doesn’t do ads every five goddamn seconds.

Please stop hating on Reels. I actually get bullied for this, I have a group chat with my friends from high school named #reels literally just to make fun of me for sending them a Reel. I can’t help it guys, I like to laugh and Reels make me laugh!
