Boom!
Late night comedy hosts come and go and that is a fact of life (RIP Trevor Noah). But dear fucking God, our Holy Father, He who is above all, please PLEASE make it time for Jimmy Fallon to evaporate. I swear to God that bitch ass motherfucker hasn’t made a good joke in years that wasn’t meticulously prescreened or couldn’t be funny without it simply coming from him. Have you noticed how he’s everywhere too? He sings more than he makes commentary now which is like, good for him but you should be good at it first. Watching his show is pretty much an admission of guilt that you stay up really late to feel like you have some semblance of control over your life in the wee hours of the night.
Has he had really good bits with the people he brings on his show? Yes. But that’s the extent of the need for Jimmy Fallon. He has valuable on screen/stage presence as long as he is instigating/providing/supporting the guest who he brings on the show. He effectively sits at his desk and laughs at everything to get the audience and the viewers at home to laugh since he’s built his character around being a goofball that everyone wants to share a laugh with. However, you should be afraid to be in the seat next to him when he’s not having fun with you. This is a lesson that the dearly beloved Rizzler learned the hard way.
Now, I would meticulously describe the entire thing to you here normally but please just go look it up. Just look up “Costco Guys Jimmy Fallon,” it’s like a 10 minute watch tops.
During the entire debacle, Jimmy is nowhere near as welcoming as he is with other guests who have come on historically. He gets defensive when the crowd cheers for AJ, Big Justice, or The Rizzler and cuts them off or transitions into the next thing as fast as possible. At some point, he seems to decide that he can’t mess with AJ or Big Justice and picks on the Rizzler who is literally an 8 year old kid. He asked him about how he got famous and the Rizzler said it was because he went home and wanted his dad’s help to make a video for TikTok. Rather than being supportive he just seems to get more upset and shits on him for making the “Rizz face” okay boomer. Finally, he ends by having them try candy and rating them on the Boom Meter. A lot of them try what they are given and look to hand it back or dispose of whatever they’re given because nobody eats all of their food on TV and Fallon blatantly ignores all his guests. The only time he positively interacts with them is when they give him a double chunk chocolate chip cookie and gets to do the booms himself.
In conclusion, Jimmy Fallon is a washed up selfish fart who only cares about using the guests on his show to make himself look better and if he can’t do that, will shit on them even if they’re just some kid who makes a silly face online because he doesn’t know better and has fun with it. Rather than having an actual conversation with these people on his show, he chose to bring up like one random promotional thing and not really help the Costco Guys connect with a larger audience by getting them to answer silly or thoughtful questions. It would’ve been great to hear more about how Big Justice’s and AJ’s father-son relationship is outside of The Costco Guy’s channel since social media family-influencers relationships become more conflicted with the strain of keeping themselves relevant. It could’ve been a moment to warn about spending too much time online and saying that they take breaks from TikTok when not filming and spend a lot of time together as a family. It would’ve been great to not watch a grown man lose his shit on an 8-year-old just because he’s more media relevant than him.
