Hi my name is [MyChemicalPiercetheBlackVeilSirens] and I have long ebony black hair (that's how I got my name) with purple streaks and red tips that reaches my mid-back and icy blue eyes like limpid tears and a lot of people tell me I look like Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way (AN: if u don't know who she is get da hell out of here!)
The holy emo trinity. The one thing all angsty middle schoolers could agree on to worship and people are yet again making this a new trend. What the actual fuck is older brother core??? Why does everything need to be an aesthetic??? If you don’t know what the holy trinity is, have you simply just not been on the internet in the last decade? The holy emo trinity is in my opinion, peak music taste and is made up of three bands: My Chemical Romance, Panic! At the Disco, and Fall Out Boy. One could argue that Twenty One Pilots should be in there somewhere, but I don’t believe in that shit.
I can’t count how many videos have come across my for you page of pretty much all of the famous emo/pop punk bands of the 2000s and all of the comments are all “that’s so older brother core!” We are truly losing our roots and this new aesthetic has brought me to the conclusion that the people yearn for yeemo culture again. Listen, I appreciate that you’re getting into this type of music, but if you’re going to call something an aesthetic, at least call it by its correct name. Also while we’re at it, were you deep in the internet trenches in 2016 arguing about all things emo band/cringe related? My intuition tells me no, so let’s back the fuck off when claiming you’ve always been here when I damn well know you haven’t.
I think this new aesthetic started because notorious elements of yeemo culture have made their way back into the spotlight. Panic! at the Disco performed at When We Were Young, My Chemical Romance is touring again, Fall Out Boy released a cover of a song from Muppets Christmas Carol, Dan and Phil came out as a couple, and the ancient prophecy has finally been fulfilled. Guys we are so fucking back.
Since we are dragging this era back into the spotlight once again, let me give you the briefest history lesson on what made this era so great. We had YouTubers like CrankThatFrank who would wear broken blinds around his neck and yell at people to not eat soap, Dan and Phil who would draw bad cat whiskers on their faces, and videos floating around the internet all about “emo bands on crack.”
Just be cringe. That’s it. Don’t fall into the trap of everything needing to be a niche little aesthetic please I swear to God. And if you are going to change an aesthetic slightly to the left, at least make it interesting and not a blatant rip off of something that already exists.
