Political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual

“Whensoever therefore the legislative shall transgress this fundamental rule of society; and either by ambition, fear, folly or corruption…people, who have a right to resume their original liberty, and, by the establishment of a new legislative…” - John Locke

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…” - 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution

Ever notice how quickly we move on from school shootings, but when Charlie Kirk gets murdered, ironically at a school, it’s all over the news and won’t go away? I think this is the first time I’ve seen news coverage about a school shooting that didn’t mysteriously end after 24 hours, because apparently when a “prominent” figure gets murdered it’s definitely more important than kids. If you’re just now starting to care about gun violence because someone you agreed with just got murdered, you are extremely hypocritical. Where is this same empathy for any of the other victims in the over 100 shootings we’ve had this year alone? You can’t pick and choose what issues you want to care about simply because your privilege allows you to do so.

If you’re speaking out about how wrong what happened to Charlie Kirk is, but are oddly silent when it comes to the same sort of violence being directed towards children in schools, immigrants, civilians in Gaza, or the so-called “radical left”, then you are a hypocrite. You wouldn’t give two shits if this happened to someone from a different political party. Oh wait, it actually did. Remember Minnesotan Congresswoman Melissa Hortman, who was shot and murdered in her own home alongside her husband and dog? Where was the outcry then about political violence? I didn’t see people walking out to pyrotechnics for their memorial service or making merch “mourning” them. Not even a moment of silence.

What happened to people chanting “deny, defend, depose” a few months ago when a billionaire CEO was shot and killed? Why should we expect people to have any more empathy for Charlie Kirk? As soon as something bad happens to any person related to politics, your “eat the rich” turns into “guys political violence is never the answer 🥺”. Class consciousness was right there and you let it slip away. Like we all know that this country was built on political violence, right? It’s important to me that you know that. And if you think the ICE raids and the National Guard deployments are not aggressive acts meant to provoke violence, then you are incredibly ignorant. Political violence was already here long before Charlie Kirk’s death. We are meant to protest, to stand up for our beliefs, and to resist when necessary. However, we cannot allow that resistance to devolve into mindless killing on either side.

When you condone gun deaths in exchange for the 2nd Amendment, you accept the risk that one of those deaths could be someone you agree with, someone you look up to, someone you care about, or even you. When you spread hate, you accept the risk that you will be hated back. When you claim everyone has the right to their opinions, even bigoted and dangerous ones, you accept the risk that people will disagree with you. Vehemently, loudly, and yes, violently.
