The Haunting Heartbreak of AMC Porter Ranch

By: FuzzBeed SnUolved

We come to this place for magic.

This week on FuzzBeed SnUolved we investigate the AMC Porter Ranch Theatre in Los Angeles California as part of our ongoing investigation into the question: “Are ghosts real?”

Opened in early March of 2020, the Porter Ranch AMC was swiftly closed as a result of the pandemic, a devastating event that shifted the public’s view of celebrities forever. Ellen, a long beloved talk-show host was exposed for being an elitist douchebag. Tens of actors came together under the lead of Gal Gadot to produce one of the most tone deaf and off-tune covers of Imagine. Other celebrities did shitty things because celebrities aren’t moral role models. But then. Then came Nicole Kidman. Here to deliver us from sin and lead us to the stars. Here to tell us ancient wisdoms long forgotten.

We come to AMC theaters to laugh, to cry, to care.

Because we need that, all of us.

This is the birthplace, the hallowed ground, the sacrosanct site, the place where it all began. Cinema lived and died in this theater. Art as we know it reached its peak. Nothing will ever be able to capture the same brilliance, the same vivacity as the swell of the music, the splash of the pump landing in the puddle reflecting the neon light, the reveal of Kidman in her silver sparkle and blue pinstripe suit. The pure elation on her face as she gazes up at the place she holds so near and dear. The two look at each other for one, beautiful moment, knowingly, ready for something glorious.

The primary focus of our investigation today is the main site of the commercial’s filming— theater four.

That indescribable feeling we get when the lights begin to dim and

we go somewhere we’ve never been before

Inside, we were greeted with the familiar yellow glow of the stairway lights, the luminous white light strips that line the walls and ceiling, and an eerie sense of what was to come. With us today, we have the Spirit Box, a tool that flips through radio channels rapidly in a way that spirits are said to be able to manipulate.

“Hello? Hello Nicole?”

“Nicole, are you with us? We’d like to talk to you. If you’re with us Nicole can you please say something.”

Between the buzzings of static a slight australian accent can be heard saying - - here.

“Nicole, are you happy here?”

- - - art- - break - - - good

“Holy shit, oh my god, did you hear that?”

“Nicole, please, why are you still here?”

Not just entertained, but somehow reborn together. Dazzling images on a huge silver screen. Sound that I can feel.

- - - - amc - - -

“Did she just say AMC? I think I heard AMC, Oh my god.”

- - - need - - - - somehow - - - sound

“Need, somehow, sound? Do you need more sound?”

- - - - naur - - -

“Nicole, can you please speak to us.”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“Nicole, come back. Wait,”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

The lights began to flicker.

- - - fuck - - - tom - - - - cruise - - -

“Nicole?”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“Nicole???”

Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this.
